Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is no stranger to being successful in the NFL, and last season’s Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles took some time to get over.
Now, as training camp is nearly upon us, the Chiefs, like 31 other teams, have intentions of hoisting the Lombardi Trophy.
With expectations for the Chiefs hard to gauge, Kansas City could either win the Super Bowl or flame out and miss the playoffs, depending on whom you ask.
But for Kelce, in an interview with NBC Sports’ Kira K. Dixon, the goal remains the same.
“Obviously, just win the Super Bowl,” Kelce said. “We made it all the way to the dance, and I just got to finish. I think we’ve got an unbelievable room coming back, obviously amazing coaches, amazing leadership in the organization. I’m just excited to get back after it and kind of rebuild this team as we do every year.”
“Just win the Super Bowl” — as if it is just that easy.
The franchise knows what it takes to get it done, having played in five Super Bowls over the past six seasons, winning three.
With Patrick Mahomes’ weapons now back to full health, something that they weren’t last year, the Chiefs have the talent to revert back to their high-octane days. No doubt Kelce will be a big part of that.
But some still think it won’t be enough for the Chiefs’ AFC dominance to continue, and others have them losing the division for the first time in 10 seasons.
However, when it comes to internal expectations for the Chiefs, it has never been simpler.
Just win the Super Bowl.
