Chiefs’ Mahomes Already Itching for Super Bowl Revenge in Eagles Rematch originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Patrick Mahomes has been considered the best quarterback in the NFL since not long after he became the starter for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2018. Since that moment, KC has won three Super Bowls, and been to five, while Mahomes has won multiple MVP awards.
It’s rare to see Mahomes have a bad game. Even when the Chiefs lost Super Bowl LV, the superstar wasn’t seen as the problem in their blowout loss.
He certainly was during Super Bowl LIX, though.
During the Philadelphia Eagles’ blowout win in February, 40-22, Mahomes suffered what all things considered might be the worst game of his entire career. He was picked off twice and sacked six times.
With the Eagles and Chiefs scheduled for a rematch in Week 2 of the 2025 season, Mahomes wants revenge on Philly … and he can’t hide it.
Speaking on the “Up & Adams” podcast with Kay Adams, Mahomes had nothing but praise for the Eagles and talked about how special the upcoming matchup could be for his squad.
“We have a little bit of history, at least,” Mahomes said. “The start of our season is a lot of great football teams….Obviously, they got after us this Super Bowl, so, it’ll be a great challenge for us to see where we’re at.
“It’s early in the season, but we’ll get to go out there and play against the best of the best.”
Kansas City believes they have the roster to continue its dominance in the conference.
But then comes the next level.
To beat a team like the Eagles, Mahomes must figure out how to play better than he did in Super Bowl LIX.
Time will tell if he can do so in their Week 2 showdown. … and Mahomes isn’t the only football fan who’s fired up about it
