Chicago Sky Make Change After 11th Loss originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Chicago Sky have a 4-11 record during the 2025 WNBA season after Friday evening’s loss to the 8-7 Golden State Valkyries.
Chicago was forced to change their starting lineup for the Valkyries game because center Kamilla Cardoso temporarily stepped away from the team on Tuesday. She is representing her home country, Brazil, in Americup and will return to the Sky on July 6.
In her place, the team started five-year veteran forward Michaela Onyenwere, her first start of the 2025 season. She played 23 minutes and scored just four points, compared to five fouls.
She also contributed three rebounds, three steals and two assists. Onyenwere was the lone Sky player with a plus/minus of more than +1, however, as she earned a +12 for the game.
Despite this close road loss against Golden State, head coach Tyler Marsh opted to make another change to the starting lineup after the team’s 11th loss.
On Sunday, Chicago will start veteran center Elizabeth Williams in place of Onyenwere against the Sparks.

Williams is an 11-year WNBA veteran in her second season with the Sky. While she started all nine games in her injury-shortened 2024 campaign, Sunday will mark her first start of 2025.
She is fresh off a one-point, five-rebound, two-assist performance on Friday against the Valkyries, but Williams has been averaging 6.7 points and 3.7 rebounds during the season.
Her season-best 16 points and five rebounds came on June 22 against the Atlanta Dream.
Sunday’s game between the Sky and Sparks will tip off at 4:00 p.m. ET at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
