The Boston Celtics are looking to bounce back in Game 2 of a second-round series against the New York Knicks.
Boston lost to the Knicks 108-105 in Game 1 of the series and New York attained home-court advantage in the series.
Now, Boston is headed into a vital matchup against the Knicks, looking to take the victory and head to New York tied. An 0-2 series deficit would put the Celtics in a deep hole, having to play on the road in arguably the most hostile stadium in the NBA.
Luckily for the Celtics, they received great news ahead of their Game 2 matchup.
On Wednesday, Boston announced that center Kristaps Porzingis is available to play in Game 2. Porzingis left Game 1 early due to a non-COVID related illness, according to the Celtics’ official social media account.
Injury Report update:
Sam Hauser (right ankle sprain) – OUT
Kristaps Porzingis – AVAILABLE https://t.co/wGW1RHiLER— Boston Celtics (@celtics) May 7, 2025
Porzingis finished his first game against the New York Knicks in the series playing just 13 minutes. He capped off his night with four rebounds and one assist.
So far this season, Porzingis has averaged 19.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.
While Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are widely regarded as the cornerstone pieces of the Boston Celtics franchise, Porzingis has played a large role in helping put the organization in position to compete for its second straight NBA title.
While Porzingis will be available to play against the New York Knicks in Game 2, the Boston Celtics will be playing without a key member of the rotation, Sam Hauser.
Hauser has been ruled out of Game 2, nursing a right ankle sprain.
