Celtics Fans Saddened Over Kristaps Porzingis News After Loss to Knicks

Since the 2025 NBA Playoffs started, something has been off with Boston Celtics big man Kristaps Porzingis. Seven games into their playoff run, Porzingis is averaging 9.7 points and 5.3 rebounds while shooting 34.9% from the field and 16.7% from three.

Porzingis has been dealing with an illness, and it sounds like it’s connected to the illness he had been dealing with earlier during the regular season. No matter what it was, something is clearly limiting what he can do on the floor.

Porzingis put up eight points and four rebounds while shooting 3-for-5 from the field in the Celtics’ Game 2 loss to the New York Knicks. After the game, Porzingis shared the unfortunate news that he is still very much under the weather.

“I’m dealing with something,” Porzingis told reporters, per CLNS Media’s Noa Dalzell. “I’m just not feeling my best. I’m not feeling my best at all, but it just kills me inside that it’s happening at this moment.”

He added, “What I’m appreciative of is the support I have inside, and also probably from the fans, but especially here inside the organization. this is a tough moment for me to not be able to be with the guys.”

Celtics fans were none too pleased to hear Porzingis’ latest on his health.

“This makes me sad. I hope he’s ok,” one fan wrote.

“Oh my unicorn what is happening to ya…” another wrote.

“Me too KP,” one added with a sad emoji.

“Yall switched up so quickly on this man I feel bad for him,” said another.

The Celtics had Al Horford fill in as their starting center as Porzingis came off the bench. It’s unclear if that will be their strategy going forward.
