CC Sabathia hasn’t played in a big-league game since 2019. But the big lefthander, who is headline for the Hall of Fame later this month,  is still clearly  comfortable on a diamond.

At the Celebrity Softball Game in Atlanta during All-Star Weekend, the former Yankees ace stepped up to the plate and launched a towering home run, drawing a roar from the crowd and a wave of nostalgia from fans who remember what kind of athlete Sabathia always was.

“Still got it,” Sabathia wrote on social media after the swing.

That part isn’t up for debate.

Sabathia is headed to Cooperstown soon for his work on the mound. He amassed 251 career wins, a lifetime 3.74 ERA, and more than 3,000 strikeouts over a 19-year career that spanned Cleveland, Milwaukee, and New York. He was the 2007 AL Cy Young winner, a six-time All-Star, and a postseason horse for the Yankees during their 2009 title run.

What fans sometimes forget is that he could swing it a little, too.

Sabathia was a .207 career hitter—not bad considering most of his playing days came in the American League. He only got real at-bats during his brief run with the Brewers in 2008, when he famously helped pitch Milwaukee into the playoffs while also collecting a pair of homers in the process. He finished with three career home runs in just 132 at-bats.

So while the stage was smaller this weekend, the swing still meant something. For Sabathia, it was a reminder of how natural the game still feels. And for everyone watching, it was a reminder of just how much fun he always made it look.

Still got it? Yeah. We already knew that.
