Cam Ward Makes Eye-Opening Comments About Will Levis Following Injury News originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Tennessee Titans were hit with some surprising news right before the start of training camp when it was revealed that Will Levis was undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery. The timing caught a lot of people off guard.
It was made more confusing by the fact that Levis recently hosted a camp where he was throwing the ball just fine. Regardless, Levis isn’t going to play this season, which means rookie No. 1 pick Cam Ward has less competition for the starting job in 2025.
Ward hasn’t had much time to cultivate a relationship with Levis, and when he was asked about the injury news, he had an interesting reaction.
“I really didn’t have a reaction. I focus on Cam Ward,” Ward told reporters. “He made what’s best for him. I really can’t be mad at somebody for doing what’s best for him. I wish him a speedy recovery.”
It does sound like Ward believes that Levis didn’t necessarily have to get shoulder surgery, but he’s not harboring any ill will. He even went on to praise the former second-round pick.
“I’m hoping to see him in the building a lot more,” Ward said. “He helped me in OTAs learning the install and everything. He’s a good football player. When he’s ready and healthy, he’ll have his chance at the field.”
There’s a chance that Ward and Levis never actually play any games together. It might be wise for the Titans to move on from the quarterback after the season, but for now, he’ll be on the Injured Reserve.
