Cam Jordan wants Saints to trade for New York Giants QB Jameis Winston

The New York Giants and New Orleans Saints are two teams still trying to figure out the future of the quarterback position.

While the Giants signed a pair of veterans in Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston during free agency, they also used the No. 25 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft on Jaxson Dart out of Ole Miss. Meanwhile, the Saints are dealing with the fallout of Derek Carr’s sudden retirement after they used a second-round pick on Louisville’s Tyler Shough.

During a recent appearance on “Up & Adams” with Kay Adams, Saints star Cameron Jordan was asked what type of veteran quarterback he would want to bring in. He made his answer pretty clear.

“There’s Russ (Wilson) over there. They’ve got Jaxson Dart. My guy, Jameis, like, come on down. It makes a lot of sense,” he said. “I’m going all in Jameis as a veteran quarterback. Come on over.”

On paper, a reunion with Winston makes sense. The Saints have a clear need for a veteran presence in the quarterback room following Carr’s departure. With Shough expected to lead the way, Jake Haener has the most experience in the room going into his third season. There’s also Spencer Rattler, a fifth-round pick going into his second season.

The Giants may seem like they have a logjam at the quarterback position, but head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen need to throw as many darts on the board as they can. It’s unlikely Winston would save their jobs if the Wilson experiment doesn’t end well, but it could give them a bit more time to develop Dart for his eventual takeover.

There could be a deal that happens if the Giants feel comfortable enough with Dart’s progression but for now, Winston is firmly established as the backup in the quarterback room.
