Caitlin Clark’s status is official. originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The WNBA All-Star break is over, and it is back to work for the league’s 13 teams. And while it will be difficult to shake off the down time for most every team after a stellar and eventful weekend, it figures to be especially tough for the Indiana Fever, who will be entering their third stretch of the season without star guard Caitlin Clark.
Back in May, Clark suffered a quad strain, which was followed in June by a groin injury. Last Tuesday against the Connecticut Sun, Clark had to leave the game with another injury, this time a repeat of the groin injury.
While the presumption has been that Clark would miss time after the All-Star game, it became official on Monday, as Chloe Peterson of the Indianapolis Star reported.
She wrote on Twitter/X: “As expected, Caitlin Clark is out tomorrow against the Liberty. New York’s injury report is clean, meaning Jonquel Jones is officially slated for return tomorrow.”

Clark has played in just 13 of the Fever’s 23 games this year. She missed five games in late May and early June, came back for five games, then missed another four games with the first groin injury. She missed the final game before the break, a blowout loss to New York, and will do the same on Tuesday.
Coach Stephanie White previously said of Clark, “I think she’s progressing. I think that we’re continuing to address everything that needs to be addressed. She’s going to see some doctors and get some more tests run early in the week.
“I don’t expect her to be available on Tuesday. We’re just going to continue to take it one day at a time and let her get her evaluations early this week, and then once we’ve done that hopefully we’ll have more of a clear (idea) what it looks like.”
