Caitlin Clark’s Hangout With Liberty Stars Amplifies Rumors After ‘Few More Years’ Quote originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Caitlin Clark sparked a wave of panic last week when a video of her discussing her future with the Indiana Fever went viral.
The Iowa native was asked how she’s settled into life in Indiana. After reflecting on her Midwestern roots, she casually dropped a comment that caught the attention of Fever fans, saying she hopes to play in Indy for “a few more years.”
“I’m from the Midwest, so this is one of the top places I wanted to come out of college, and I feel like the adjustment has been pretty easy,” Clark said. “Our fans have been amazing, and [I] have amazing teammates. So, I certainly love it here, and hopefully I can play here for a few more years.“
To be fair, the comment, made on July 7, likely meant very, very little in the moment. Still, it was enough to stir some anxiety among the Fever faithful.
Fast forward to Wednesday night, when Clark and the Fever traveled to Brooklyn to take on the New York Liberty.
New York, the defending WNBA champions, rolled to a 98–77 win while Clark sat out with a groin injury suffered on Tuesday against the Connecticut Sun.
After the game, Clark took time to meet with Liberty stars Sabrina Ionescu, Breanna Stewart and head coach Sandy Brondello. Clark’s manager, Erin Kane, was also spotted in the huddle.

Predictably, fans ran wild with theories, speculating this postgame moment was a sign the Fever star is plotting a future move to New York.
Sure. OK.
Here’s a sample of what fans are saying:
“cc to the liberty,” one fan said.
“CC to NY confirmed?” asked a second.
“Man, Liberty my favorite team after whatever team CC is on. Go for CC, you might like the bigger market!! 😍,” added another.
“begging sandy to free my goat,” wrote a fourth.
“Cc to New York? I like it! 😎,” commented a fifth.
“cc to new york would cure my depression,” posted a sixth.
With the most fan votes for the WNBA All-Star Game, Clark was elected as a captain of her own team. She selected Ionescu in the draft and swapped her initial All-Star coach, Cheryl Reeve, for Brondello. Stewart will be playing for Napheesa Collier’s team.
The 2025 WNBA All-Star Game will be held at Gainbridge Fieldhouse (Indianapolis) on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. ET.
