Caitlin Clark was officially announced as the WNBA All-Star captain for the Eastern Conference during her second season with the Indiana Fever.
After the news broke, Clark was involved in another historic post that gave a nod to her popularity in the WNBA.
According to Yahoo Sports, Clark broke the WNBA record for the most All-Star Game votes in history with over 1.2 million votes.
The WNBA also announced that Clark will be the first Indiana Fever captain in All-Star game history.
While Clark was named the captain representative of the Eastern Conference, Minnesota Lynx star Napheesa Collier was named the All-Star Game captain from the Western Conference.
Clark and Collier will draft their teams from all available All-Stars, regardless of conference, for the WNBA All-Star Game on July 19 in Indianapolis. The remaining eight starters will be announced Monday, with a group of 12 reserves announced July 6.

When the initial voting was released in the first window, Clark was the No. 1 vote getter and was joined by three other Indiana Fever players in the top 10 rankings: Aliyah Boston, Kelsey Mitchell and Lexie Hull.
After several days of fans getting the chance to vote, where the votes would count as double, it has officially closed, making way for Clark, 23, to lead her respective team.
During her second season with the Indiana Fever, Caitlin Clark has posted 18.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 8.9 assists per game.
Clark has missed the last two games for the Fever, dealing with a groin injury. She has also missed seven overall games, having previously dealt with a quadriceps injury.
“First @IndianaFever All-Star captain in WNBA history mood,” posted the WNBA when shouting out the Indiana Fever star.
