Caitlin Clark Issues Unexpected Statement After Missing Five Straight Games originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Indiana Fever officially announced on Friday that Caitlin Clark will make her highly anticipated return to action on Saturday in their marquee matchup against the defending champions, the New York Liberty.
The former Iowa superstar has been sidelined by a lingering quad injury for Indiana’s last five games and after a lot of anticipation, Clark will finally be able to take the court again.
Despite the excitement from fans, however, Clark has made it clear that she won’t let the hype overwhelm her once she gets out there again.
“I think it’s just like, having the mindset of, you know, I don’t need to make up for lost time,” Clark said, via Chloe Peterson of IndyStar. “Just being patient and getting back into the flow of things, getting back into the flow of playing with my team.”
There’s no denying that supporters are very much looking forward to Clark’s return, and the expectation is that she will want to make an immediate impact after her team lost three out of the five games she sat out.
The reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year said that she wants to keep being level-headed and let the game come to her.
Clark also shed light on how the rehab process went for her and how she did “anything under the sun” to try and expedite the process.
“A lot of needling,” Clark started. “When you do treatment in rehab, you’re still lifting. You’re almost lifting heavier than probably what I was, what I would be doing on a day like today preparing for a game.”
“Just trying to strengthen my muscles, my left leg and my right leg, literally anything I tried it. Red light therapy, hyperbaric oxygen chamber, like we do it all. And the same goes, even when I’m feeling healthy, like it’s a big part of it, massages, everything.”
It now appears that the time has finally come for Clark and the Fever to reap the benefits of all the hard work they put in in her road to recovery.
