Bucks' only draft pick reveals plan for NBA rookie season

The Milwaukee Bucks’ lone selection in the 2025 draft has revealed his intentions for what could be his debut NBA season in 2025-26.

The Bucks took a flier on forward Bogoljub Markovic with the No. 47 pick in the second round this year. The 20-year-old’s fate with Milwaukee in the short-term was looking a bit murky due to roster constrictions.

According to a press release from Serbian squad Mega Basket, Markovic will return to his pre-draft home next year, after all.

In 32 bouts for Mega Basket last year, Markovic notched averages of 13.9 points on a .546/.388/.765 slash line, 6.9 boards and 2.6 dimes per. Now, he’ll have an opportunity to return for an encore run, in the hopes of getting some additional international seasoning before the 20-year-old embarks on his NBA journey.

Milwaukee had no room to sign Markovic, either through its fully occupied 15-man standard roster (although guard Andre Jackson Jr.’s contract isn’t fully guaranteed until the start of the regular season) or via any of the team’s three filled two-way slots.

Granted, if Bucks brass had been impressed by Markovic in Summer League, there were mechanisms for general manager Jon Horst to find a spot for the 6-foot-11 forward.

Markovic looked a bit shaky during his five Summer League games with Milwaukee in Las Vegas, averaging 8.0 points while slashing .483/.154/.769, plus 2.2 boards, 1.4 assists, and 0.6 blocks
