Browns: UDFA S Donovan McMillon speaks after signing with Cleveland

t’s been reported that the Cleveland Browns are signing University of Pittsburgh safety Donovan McMillon. The news was first reported by Nathan Breisinger of Pittsburgh Sports Now. Following an exciting 2025 NFL Draft, the team remains busy adding more young talent to the roster.

When asked how he felt about heading to Cleveland, McMillon answered, “It’s still unimaginable. It’s a lot right now, but I’m happy, excited, and pumped to be a Brown.” After three long days of not being selected in the NFL Draft, it appears that safety did not have to wait long to find his new team.

After starting his collegiate career at the University of Florida, McMillon transferred to Pitt for a successful final two seasons. The 6’2″, 205-pound safety recorded a combined 220 tackles and one interception in a Panthers uniform. He became the first Pitt player to record consecutive 100-tackle seasons since 2008. Along with talent, one of his best abilities is availability. McMillon appeared in and contributed to all 50 possible games throughout his four seasons at the college level.

With the current lack of depth at the safety position, McMillon could find himself battling for snaps early in the Browns’ training camp period. The team currently has only three safeties on the roster, including projected starters Grant Delpit and Ronnie Hickman. Many thought the Browns would address this need in the draft, making this pickup all the more interesting. We’ll see just how big of an opportunity the new Browns safety will be given.
