After a surprise trade on Monday saw Kenny Pickett shipped off to Las Vegas, the Cleveland Browns are adding more depth to their quarterback room.
According to NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, the Browns are signing veteran quarterback Bailey Zappe to their practice squad. After being waived by the Kansas City Chiefs as part of yesterday’s roster cuts, Zappe joins a room that was down to just Joe Flacco, Dillon Gabriel, and Shedeur Sanders. In addition to trading Pickett, the Browns parted ways with Tyler Huntley earlier this week, as well.

It’s a return to Cleveland for Zappe, who spent part of the 2024 season with the Browns and started the team’s regular season finale against the Baltimore Ravens. Zappe, a 2022 fourth-round pick of the New England Patriots, went 16-of-31 for 170 yards, a touchdown, and a pair of interceptions in his only appearance to date with the Browns.
With the Browns’ quarterback questions finally answered in the last week, Zappe adds some experience to a room that saw two rookies make the 53-man roster on Tuesday.
