Browns Facing Backlash From Ohio State Fans for Draft Night Selection of Mason Graham

The Cleveland Browns shocked the NFL world on Thursday by trading out of their number two draft position with the Jacksonville Jaguars, who selected Travis Hunter, the Browns’ original projected draft target.

The Browns added to their defense in a different way with the selection of Mason Graham, the Michigan Wolverines’ defensive lineman who dominated the Ohio State Buckeyes en route to an undefeated season and national championship in 2023-2024 and another win in Columbus, Ohio in 2025.

Following the draft selection, many fans including several Ohio State Buckeye fans took issue with the Browns’ selection of a player who was an arch nemesis of their team for years.

“Wow I’m no longer a Browns fan,” one person named King Buckeye said on X after the selection of Graham.

“Makes two!” another fan wrote.

“SAME brother same,” another added.

The Browns posted “flicks from a night to remember” on Friday of Graham and the draft setting in Green Bay, which prompted another fan to respond.

“I drank to not remember it actually. (Expletive) you,” one fan said under the photos.

Graham, a California native, teamed with fellow first round pick Kenneth Grant to wreak havoc in the middle of the defensive line with Michigan. He had seven tackles in 2024’s game, a 13-10 Wolverines win.

“Y’all really let us down,” another fan said under the Browns’ post welcoming Graham.

Another criticized the Browns for taking Graham instead of staying at number two and selecting Hunter.

Those in favor of the Graham pick were quite adamant about it.

“On behalf of all Browns fans who actually know ball, so do we,” one fan said in response to the Browns’ account saying Graham looks good in orange and brown.

“Let’s go I’m pumped,” another fan added.
