Browns’ bold QB plan could spark Shedeur Sanders trade buzz

NFL teams may want to dial back the trade proposals—for now. The Cleveland Browns are sitting on the most intriguing quarterback group in the league, and despite speculation swirling around Shedeur Sanders and company, they’re in no rush to make a move.

According to Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot, the Browns are proceeding cautiously. “The Browns have no plans to trade any of their quarterbacks at this point,” she reported, citing the need for evaluation before decisions are made.

That QB room includes four very different talents: rookie Shedeur Sanders (Colorado), lefty gunslinger Dillon Gabriel, Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco, and the gritty ex-Steeler Kenny Pickett. It’s a logjam, and it’s only getting more pressurized.

Why does this matter to Buffaloes fans in Colorado? Because Sanders is one of them. And as Deion Sanders’ son, he’s more than just a rookie trying to earn a job—he’s part of a larger brand built in Boulder. If Cleveland keeps Shedeur on the bench, Coach Prime is unlikely to sit quietly.

The Browns plan to give each QB an even shot during OTAs, running concurrent offensive drills so all four get reps with top weapons like Jerry Jeudy, David Njoku, and Cedric Tillman. That’s a level playing field—for now.

But the clock is ticking. Cleveland opens the season with two division games in the first two weeks, followed by four out of five games on the road—including a high-stakes London showdown against the Vikings on October 5.

No NFL team carries four active quarterbacks into the season. GM Andrew Berry knows that. So while the official line is “no trades yet,” decisions are coming.

If Shedeur isn’t named the starter or at least the top backup, don’t be surprised if the trade winds pick up—especially with QB-needy teams like the Saints searching for answers after Derek Carr’s retirement.

And if Shedeur is still buried on the depth chart come August, Coach Prime may look to put his son in a new jersey—one where he’s the main event.
