Brittney Griner’s Teammate Makes Atlanta Dream History Against Connecticut Sun originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Mohegan Sun Arena was buzzing on Friday night as the 5-2 Atlanta Dream took on the struggling 1-6 Connecticut Sun in Game 2 of the Commissioner’s Cup.
Atlanta’s offense, ranked second in the league at 85.9 points per game, came in riding the momentum of a four-game winning streak, led by Allisha Gray’s 21.4 PPG and Rhyne Howard’s 17.6 PPG, career highs for both players.
Despite a slow start, the Dream leaned on its depth to cut the lead to 36-35 at the end of the first half, with WNBA legend Brittney Griner leading the way with eight points.
However, before any of that, it was forward Naz Hillmon who quietly etched her name into franchise lore.
After stepping onto the court for her 115th straight game, all with Atlanta, Hillmon ascended to the second-longest consecutive game streak in Dream history, as noted by the team on X.

At Michigan, Hillmon remains the program’s all-time leader in rebounds (1,063), double-doubles (52) and free throws made (487), earning Big Ten Player of the Year (2021) and first-team All-American honors in both 2021 and 2022.
Drafted 15th overall in 2022, Hillmon immediately made an impact, grabbing 172 rebounds, setting a Dream rookie rebounding record.
Over her first three seasons, Hillmon has been a model of consistency, playing all 40 games in both 2023 and 2024, posting career-best averages of 5.7 points and 4.8 rebounds on 21.7 minutes per game in 2024.
WNBA action aside, Hillmon also starred in Australia’s WNBL, earning All-WNBL Second Team (2024) and First Team (2025) honors.
