A second celebration nearly a year in the making finally arrived for one WNBA star Friday night.

USA Basketball presented Atlanta Dream forward Brittney Griner with her championship ring Friday night for helping Team USA win the gold medal during the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

“Gold has a nice ring to it,” the Dream X account posted Saturday morning with a cool emoji face.

“Last night, in honor of bringing home the gold from Paris, Brittney Griner was presented with a championship ring.”

The gold ring will accompany the gold medal Griner received in August after Team USA defeated France in the championship game 67-66.

The victory gave Griner her third Olympic gold medal in woman’s basketball. During the medal ceremony in August, Griner cried while standing on the podium as “The Star-Spangled Banner” played and the USA flag rose to the top of the rafters.

Griner won her first Gold medal with USA women’s basketball at the 2014 World Cup in Turkey. She was also part of the team that won Gold at the 2018 World Cup in Spain.

Team USA won the 2016, 2020 and 2024 gold medals at the Summer Olympics with Griner on the roster as well.

After receiving the medal, Griner scored seven points and posted four rebounds with three blocks in Atlanta’s 88-70 victory against the Chicago Sky on Friday. The victory improved the Dream to 7-3 this season.

Through eight starts, Griner, who is in her first season with Atlanta, has averaged 11.9 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game this season.

To begin her WNBA career, Griner made the All-Star team nine times with the Phoenix Mercury.
