Brazil are looking to pounce on Carlo Ancelotti following Real Madrid’s elimination from the Champions League.

La Selecao are on the lookout for a new head coach following Dorival Junior’s sacking and have earmarked Ancelotti as a top target.

Marca reports that Diego Fernandes, one of Brazil’s representatives, was present at Santiago Bernabeu last night to watch Real’s Champions League quarter-final second leg against Arsenal, fuelling the speculations over Ancelotti’s future.

Los Blancos endured a disappointing 2-1 defeat, crashing out of the competition on an aggregate score of 5-1.

The Spanish giants’ abysmal performances in both legs have raised questions about Ancelotti’s position.

The legendary gaffer finds himself on the firing line, with Madrid lagging behind Barcelona in the La Liga title race.

The Italian tactician, who is contracted until June 2026, also offered a tentative answer when asked whether it was his final Champions League game with Madrid.

“I don’t know. Maybe the club will decide to make a change,” said Ancelotti.

“It could be this year or next year, when my contract runs out. The day I finish here I can only do one thing and that is to thank this club. It could be tomorrow, in 10 days or in a year and the only thing I will do is thank the club. I don’t care if my contract ends this year or next year.”

Ancelotti’s job hinges on Real winning the La Liga and the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona.

Madrid also appear to be ready to move on from the former AC Milan gaffer, with Jurgen Klopp emerging as one of the top candidates for his successor.

Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso is another name on Madrid’s wishlist to lead their project.

Meanwhile, Brazil are going through one of the toughest periods in their history, marked by underwhelming performances in major tournaments in recent years.

They are keen on roping in a high-profile coach to change their fortunes ahead of the FIFA World Cup next year.
