The Celtics beat the Magic in Game 5 on Tuesday, solidifying their spot in the second round. It’s the fourth straight season, along with the eighth time in the last nine years, that the C’s have advanced to at least the second round of the playoffs. Boston will get five full days of rest before kicking off the second round which could be a huge advantage for their injury situation. Jrue Holiday (hamstring) has missed three straight games for Boston. Jaylen Brown (bone bruise in knee) and Jayson Tatum (bone bruise in wrist) always played through injuries during round one.
The Knicks currently lead the Pistons 3-2 in their first-round series. The Pistons beat the Knicks in New York in Game 5 to extend the series. Game 6 is set for 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Detroit as the Pistons to look to extend that series. Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart are currently battling injuries for the Knicks. Isaiah Stewart has missed time for the Pistons as well with a knee injury. A potential Game 7 between those two teams would be on Saturday night if Detroit wins Game 6.
The other Eastern Conference semifinals series between the Pacers and Cavaliers will kick off on Sunday May 4th.
