Bills Boldly Address Chiefs Narrative: 'Control What We Can Control'

Bills Boldly Address Chiefs Narrative: ‘Control What We Can Control’ originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

The 2025 Buffalo Bills are most people’s favorites for the Super Bowl with MVP winner Josh Allen leading a well-rounded roster into battle.

For most, the Bills are in a tough spot, because what they do in the regular season means little, it’s what happens in the playoffs that people want to see.

After failing to get to a Super Bowl in Allen’s tenure, thanks to the Kansas City Chiefs, who have ended the Bills’ season four straight times in the playoffs, there is a narrative that when it counts, Buffalo just doesn’t have what it takes to slay Patrick Mahomes.

But how does Allen and his team deal with that heading into the new year?

“We can only control what we can control, and that’s this training camp right now,” Allen said. “There’s no time like the present. So, again, we don’t think about that as much as people tend to think.

“Ultimately, we know that it probably runs through them in the playoffs as it has the last six, seven years, right? So again, we just have to continue to keep putting our best foot forward and not focusing on the results, but enjoying the process and going from there.”

The Bills do face the Chiefs at home in the regular season, where, funnily enough, Buffalo is 4-0 in their last four outings, but again, when it’s all chips into the middle of the table, it is Kansas City that comes out on top.

So, Allen and the Bills aren’t allowing themselves to get caught up in that narrative, instead focusing on training camp and getting better. And if they do see the Chiefs in the playoffs, it will be there that they look to end this narrative, not before.

Still, many have the Bills winning the Super Bowl, but to do that, they most likely will have to slay the Chiefs, something they’ve not done in recent history.

Could this be the year they do it?
