Bills All-Pro Speaks Out On First Round Star Corner originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Buffalo Bills brought back former All-Pro cornerback Tre’Davious White to bolster a young and inexperienced secondary.
The kind of mentorship that he could bring may be helpful as he passes the baton … if the system works in a way to make a first-round pick work out quickly.
When the Bills drafted Kentucky cornerback Maxwell Hairston in the first round of the 2025 draft, Buffalo made it clear they wanted to see if he could get into the starting lineup.
While White isn’t willing to give up a starting role just yet, he explained during his OTA press conference on Tuesday that Hairston is more than ready for the challenge.
“The guy has some abilities that a lot of guys just don’t have coming out of the womb,” White said. “You mix that with the coaching that we have here, and all of the resources that he has to be successful, it’s going to come.
“It’s only a matter of time before he’s one of the best corners in the league, because of the God-given abilities that he has on top of the coaching and the resources that he’s going to have throughout his career.”
Big words from a player who was once one of the best cornerbacks in the game.
Injuries have derailed White’s career; he’s not an All-Pro player any longer. That much is true. If he can play at a high level this season, it’ll help Buffalo out tremendously going into the regular season.
It may also push Hairston to play even better going into his rookie season – something that White believes he is ready for.
