Ben Shelton’s Girlfriend Trinity Rodman Issues Strong Statement During His Wimbledon Run originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
American tennis player Ben Shelton and his girlfriend, United States Women’s National Team soccer star Trinity Rodman, have been the talk of Wimbledon.
But Rodman does not want people talking about them any which way. She made her feelings known ahead of Shelton’s quarterfinal against No. 1 seed Jannik Sinner.
Rodman, an NWSL champion and Olympic gold medalist at age 23, has been in attendance at the All England Club to watch Shelton at every match just like she was at the French Open. She is not currently with her club team, Washington Spirit, while she rehabs a serious back injury.
Rodman has garnered plenty of attention from the ESPN cameras while sitting in the crowd alongside her boyfriend’s father, Bryan Shelton, and sister, Emma Shelton.

After No. 10 seed Shelton got a four-set comeback victory on Monday against Lorenzo Sonego, Rodman took to her Instagram story to spell out a problem with how she has been treated by the broadcast media during her frequent screen time at Wimbledon.
“For those who don’t know… my name is TRINITY not Tiffany,” she wrote over a nondescript photo.
“Also, for Ben’s matches he has his family there as his support system, which includes his dad,” she continued in a second block of text. “My dad’s not even in MY life no need to bring him up during HIS matches when I don’t even want him talked about during mine. It’s him and his loved ones’ moment. Thank you.”
Rodman has previously expressed her preference to be discussed independently from her father, a former NBA champion with the Chicago Bulls with whom she has a strained relationship.
The USWNT forward started dating Shelton, 22, earlier this year. They “hard launched” their relationship on social media to widespread fanfare.
Shelton shot onto the scene in 2023 with a run to the semifinal of the U.S. Open, where the unseeded American fell to eventual champion Novak Djokovic.
At this year’s French Open, his magical run ended in the fourth round after a four-set battle with eventual champion Carlos Alcaraz.
Shelton’s other top finish at a Grand Slam came in the 2025 Australian Open, when he was beaten by yet another eventual champion, Sinner, in the semifinal.
He is hoping to get over the hump at Wimbledon by getting revenge on the Italian in the men’s singles quarterfinal, with Rodman supporting him along the way.
