Jul. 22—BEMIDJI — The final regular-season games for the Bemidji American Legion softball team are in the books.
The Titans swept International Falls by scores of 13-0 in five innings and 8-2. Post 14 was shorthanded, as its Bemidji players were unavailable to play on Sunday. Blackduck’s representatives, however, pulled through to earn a sweep.
Anna Swedberg struck out seven batters in a complete-game shutout. She allowed just one hit and one walk. Bemidji tallied 12 singles, including three from Isabel Ziegler and two from Kayleigh Lory, McKenzie Bullock and Jillian Pulkrabek.
In the second game, Jessa Anderson and Pulkrabek doubled as each of them had multi-hit games. Kenley Anderson, Bullock and Ziegler recorded multiple hits as well.
Bemidji will play in a best-of-three series against Wadena on Wednesday, July 23. The winner will advance to the state tournament Aug. 1-3 in Fairmont. Wednesday’s district championship series could be moved to Thursday due to weather.
