Bears' Joe Thuney looks forward to working with Jonah Jackson, Drew Dalman

Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Poles knew he had to revamp the offensive line this offseason after the unit gave up a league-high 68 sacks on quarterback Caleb Williams last season.

Rebuilding the offensive line started with two trades to acquire All-Pro guard Joe Thuney from the Kansas City Chiefs, and former Pro Bowl guard Jonah Jackson from the Los Angeles Rams. The Bears also signed center Drew Dalman in free agency, and all three moves were praised among NFL circles.

The interior of the offensive line for Chicago has been completely rebuilt with the arrival of those three veterans, and new offensive line coach Dan Roushar will be tasked in putting it all together. As a four-time Super Bowl champion, Thuney will be one of the most proven winners on the team, and he knows there’s work to do with his new teammates, specifically Jackson and Dalman.

“Drew and Jonah are great guys, they work relentlessly – weight room, film room, every part of the game you can tell how passionate they are for the game,” Thuney said. “It’s cool that the guys would be here for a couple years. It’s been great working with them.”

Thuney’s experience at the highest level of winning football should set a new standard not only for the offensive line but the Bears locker room as a whole. Getting in a rhythm with his new teammates should also serve well as all three veterans will build a new interior offensive line tasked with protecting a young, developing quarterback in Williams.
