The connection between Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams and wide receiver DJ Moore in their second year together could be a big key to the team’s success in 2025.
The pair will be led by new head coach Ben Johnson, who has been credited for his brilliant offensive mind, and after a disappointing 2024 season, the Bears are relying on the trio to get them back to their winning ways this year.
As a veteran in the league, Moore was seen as a key for Williams coming into the league. Last season, Moore had 98 receptions for 966 yards and six touchdowns. There are plenty of expectations that, with their new head coach, the Bears offense should see much more consistency and production. But in order for that to happen, Williams will have to take a big leap in his development.
Last month, Moore detailed the growth he’s already seen from his quarterback in the early time he’s spent working with Johnson.
“A lot of growth,” Moore said. “You can tell he is on his A-game every day because I know he probably gets it the most out of everybody because he’s the quarterback and he wants to be perfect in himself and then the staff wants him to be perfect to lead this offense.”
Understanding the pressure and hard coaching that will be on him with the new regime, Moore’s comments show a growth in maturity from Williams. After an absolute disaster of a season with the previous coaching staff, Williams is likely starting over from scratch with the new regime. If they can get the most out of him in their first year working together, Moore could be in line to eclipse 100 or more receptions and 1,000 or more receiving yards, or even better, both.
