FC Barcelona continue their efforts to improve their financial situation. To that end, the Catalans have reportedly reached a lucrative sponsorship and collaboration agreement to promote tourism in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
New sleeve sponsorship deal
According to several African media outlets, as relayed by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have reached an agreement over a sleeve sponsorship deal with the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
As per the terms of the deal, the La Liga champions would receive approximately €10 million per year over three seasons for featuring the slogan “RDC, the Heart of Africa” on the sleeve of its shirt.
Didier Budumbu, Minister of Sports and Tourism of the African nation, recently visited Barcelona to finalise the agreement.

The deal also includes collaboration initiatives with schools in the DRC, carried out through the Barça Foundation’s social projects.
It is worth noting that in 2023, the Barça Legends played a friendly match in the Democratic Republic of the Congo against a team of renowned former players – an event that helped establish the relationship between the Catalan club and the African country.
While the exact figures are yet to be officially confirmed, any financial boost from this deal would be welcomed by Barcelona.
The injection of funds would help increase the club’s salary cap and allow it to operate more freely under La Liga’s 1:1 Financial Fair Play rule.
