What to know about the Miami Marlins

The Marlins are continuing to plod through their rebuild. At 34-45, they are in fourth place in the National League East and own the fourth-worst record in the league. There have been a few positive developments from a long-term perspective, including the emergence of OF Kyle Stowers, whom they acquired from the Orioles last season, and C Agustin Ramirez, who was acquired from the Yankees last year. RHP Sandy Alcantara and RHP Eury Perez have returned from Tommy John surgery; neither has posted impressive results, though Alcantara has been better in recent weeks. The Marlins are widely expected to deal Alcantara by the July 31 trade deadline. Neither of the players the Diamondbacks traded to the Marlins last year in the LHP A.J. Puk deal has yet to reach the majors. Both 1B Deyvison De Los Santos and OF Andrew Pintar are in Triple-A Jacksonville.
