The NFL draft is two weeks away but it will cover three days. Round 1 is on Thursday, April 24 and the following two rounds will take place the next day. On Saturday, Day 3 of the draft, the final four rounds will take place.

The Arizona Cardinals currently have selections in the fourth, fifth and seventh rounds on Day 3. There is a player to know for Day 3 — Maryland receiver Tai Felton.

Felton told The Draft Network’s Justin Melo that, among the many teams he has been in contact with leading up to the draft, he has had phone calls with the Arizona Cardinals.

Felton is a likely Day 3 prospect at receiver and he is a blend of size, extreme athleticism, production and special teams ability.

He is 6-foot-1 and 183 pounds and impressed at the combine. He ran the 40 in 4.37 seconds and posted a 39.5-inch vertical leap and 130-inch broad jump.

In four seasons at Maryland, he improved his production, culminating in a 2024 season in which he had 96 receptions for 1,124 yards and nine touchdowns.

One if his favorite routes to run is one that requires football intelligence — the option route.

“I lit up anytime I heard the “Z” option (laughs),” he told Melo. “I was the “Z” receiver running that option route. I got to choose how to run that route. If the corner was playing inside leverage, I broke it outside. If it was outside leverage, I broke inside. If it was zone coverage, I could sit it down, get the ball quickly in my hands, and pick up some yards after catch.

“I love those option routes, man. I loved hearing that play-call in the huddle. I wanted the ball in my hands. That was definitely my favorite route.”

With picks on Day 3 in the fourth, fifth and seventh rounds, Felton is a great candidate to be selected. The Cardinals can bet on production and athleticism, and the fact that he has experience on special teams as a gunner adds to his value.

When Day 3 of the draft rolls around, keep an eye on him if they haven’t already selected a receiver.
