Angel Reese Sends Strong Message Before Caitlin Clark, Indiana Fever Matchup

Angel Reese had a memorable rookie campaign for the Chicago Sky last season. Unfortunately, her year came to an end after the All-Star power forward suffered a wrist injury that forced her to miss her team’s last six games.

Without Reese, Chicago ended up losing five out of their last six contests, thereby ending all hopes for a WNBA playoffs berth.

Upon entering the league as a rookie last year, Reese was coming off a historic championship run with LSU in 2023 during her first season with the Tigers. She then led them to the Elite Eight the following year, where they would lose to Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Reese had gotten used to winning at the college level, which is why she admits that losing in the WNBA took some getting used to for her.

“I wasn’t used to that,” Reese said, via the Associated Press. “It just takes an adjustment. It’s something that you don’t want to get used to because you don’t want to get in a mindset, like, ‘Oh, we’re just going to be losing every night.’ We were right there every night.

“… Obviously, that left a bad taste in my mouth.”

Reese clearly doesn’t want to get accustomed to losing, and she is fully intent on changing the narrative this coming season.

It all starts with a highly anticipated opening weekend matchup against Clark and the Indiana Fever on May 17.

There is no doubt that Reese wants to rewrite the script for her and the Sky, and a win against Clark and the Fever in their first game of the season will go a long way. Reese will be looking to send a message early on, and there’s no better way to do that than by taking down her biggest rival to kick off the campaign.
