The Chicago Sky, who entered Sunday having won two of their last three games, played one of their strongest contests of the season against the Minnesota Lynx — despite ultimately falling short, 80-75.

Now sitting at 5-12 overall, the Sky went toe-to-toe with the league-best Lynx, who improved to 17-2 with the win.

Despite the loss, there were several bright spots for Chicago. However, from Angel Reese’s perspective, officiating was not one of them.

After the game, the All-Star forward voiced her frustration with WNBA referees, taking to social media to send a stern message to the league, calling on them to “do better” following several no-calls she was involved in during the matchup.

I don’t give a [explicit]. DO BETTER. @WNBA,” Reese posted.

Reese also retweeted a photo showing her being blatantly grabbed during the game, responding with a single word: “Diabolical.”

As a team, the Sky attempted just eight free throws compared to the Lynx’s 17. Reese herself only went to the line twice — converting both attempts.

Despite the physical play and controversial officiating, Reese delivered another dominant performance — finishing with 16 points, 17 rebounds, and six assists. She’s now recorded at least 16 rebounds in five straight games and holds the record for the most rebounds over a five-game stretch in WNBA history.

Officiating has become a growing concern across the WNBA this season — not just for the Sky. While officiating is often criticized by the losing side in any sport, the consistency and quality of calls have come under heavier scrutiny in recent weeks.

On Sunday, Sky head coach Tyler Marsh also voiced concern over the officiating following the team’s narrow loss to Minnesota.

“The reason for that I’m not sure, but I know that Kamilla, Elizabeth, and Angel receive a lot of contact down there and have a lot of opportunities to be at the rim, and that’s kind of how we play as a team,” Marsh said postgame. “For us to not get to the line more than that is kind of frustrating.”
