Angel Reese Reacts to Chicago Sky Announcement on Sunday originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Angel Reese continues to work through her second season in the WNBA, looking to help the Chicago Sky turn the corner.
While Reese has been a bright spot for the Sky, especially in the rebounding category, Chicago has struggled for much of the year.
That wasn’t the case on Sunday, when Reese and the Sky defeated the Connecticut Sun 78-66. Before the matchup against the Sun, the Sky suffered a three-game losing streak.
After playing Connecticut, the Chicago Sky announced Angel Reese as the “Player of the Game.”
“Oh what did y’all say about mebounds,” posted the official social media account of the Chicago Sky.
Reese then reposted the Sky’s announcement, celebrating the team’s success as well as her stat line. The Sky star earned the first triple-double of her career with 11 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists.
“Mebounds or REESEBOUNDS,” Reese said. “DUBS IN THE CHAT.”
Angel Reese is now the second player in the WNBA this season to record a triple-double. Reese joined Caitlin Clark, who posted a triple-double against the Chicago Sky in the first game of the season.
Clark had 20 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in the previous win over Chicago.
Throughout the season, Angel Reese has averaged 10.3 points, 11.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. She’s also posted solid numbers on the defensive end, with 1.6 steals per game.
After the win over the Connecticut Sun, the Chicago Sky moved to 3-7 on the season, ranked as the No. 5 team in the Eastern Conference and the No. 11 team in the WNBA standings.
