Angel Reese Admits She's Tired of Getting Cussed Out by Chicago Sky Coaches

This season has once again been a struggle for the Chicago Sky. They were perhaps hoping to rise into the atmosphere this year, but instead, they have been grounded like an airplane that has frost on its wings.

They defeated the Los Angeles Sparks, 97-86, on Tuesday, but they only have a 4-10 record, which is the fourth-worst record in the WNBA. Only the top eight teams in terms of record make the playoffs, which means Chicago has work to do in order to have a shot at making it there.

Angel Reese had a strong performance on Tuesday, but she made a concerning admission when she said that she and her teammates are “tired of getting cussed out” by coach Tyler Marsh and his staff.

Obviously, friction between players and coaches is inevitable during a long season. But once it gets past a certain point and remains for a period of time, it can become the type of thing that sparks true dissent.

Marsh does have some legitimate coaching experience. He was an assistant under Becky Hammon on the Las Vegas Aces, where he won back-to-back WNBA championships in 2022 and 2023. He was previously an assistant coach on the NBA’s Indiana Pacers, as well as an assistant video coordinator for the Toronto Raptors when they won it all six seasons ago.

Reese, the runner-up in last year’s Rookie of the Year balloting, has struggled with her shooting so far in the pros. But on Tuesday, she went 6-of-12 from the field and 6-of-7 from the free throw line, giving her 18 points. She also chipped in 17 rebounds, six assists and four steals versus Los Angeles.
