Aliyah Boston's WNBA Punishment Draws Response From Caitlin Clark

In their second season together, Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston are looking to get the Indiana Fever back into the postseason, hoping for a deeper playoff run.

They got off to a great start to the 2025 WNBA season as the Fever defeated Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky 93-58 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon.

During the third quarter, things escalated quickly as Clark fouled Reese while the former LSU star was attempting a putback layup. But Clark may have gone too far, sending Reese to the floor.

Reese got up instantly and got in Clark’s face before Boston was forced to step in, pushing Clark away from the situation. However, Boston and Reese kept jawing before both teams were separated entirely.

The referees reviewed the play and upgraded Clark’s personal foul to a flagrant while handing both Boston and Reese a technical foul.

After the win, Clark and Boston joined Fever coach Stephanie White for a postgame interview.

The former Iowa Hawkeyes star discussed her flagrant before mentioning that Boston likely has a fine coming her way.

“I appreciate AB having my back, I guess,” Clark said. “I don’t even know what she did… Have fun paying that fine… I got it for you, it’s real hefty.”

In the WNBA, the first three technical fouls accumulated by one player in a single season lead to a $200 fine, which Boston will likely have to pay in the next few days. The next three technicals (4-6) lead to a $400 fine. Once a player reaches seven techs in one season, they are suspended one game along with an $800 fine.

Last season, Clark was near the top of the WNBA in technical fouls, receiving six during the regular season. In total, she had to pay $1,800 in fines and was one tech away from a suspension.

Against the Sky, Clark finished with 20 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists while Boston added 19 points and 13 rebounds.

The Fever will take on the Atlanta Dream in their next game on Tuesday.
