Alabama target commits to SEC foe over Crimson Tide, others

A prospect who previously had the Alabama Crimson Tide among his list of three finalists, a commitment decision has now officially come from 2026 offensive lineman Deacon Schmitt.

This past Saturday afternoon, Schmitt officially announced commitment to Oklahoma, choosing the Sooners over both Alabama and in-state program Colorado.

At the moment, Schmitt ranks as the nation’s No. 371 overall prospect in the 2026 recruiting class out of Windsor High School in Colorado where he is the state’s top player. Schmitt, a four-star prospect, is also ranked as the No. 31 overall interior offensive lineman in the class.

Alabama’s 2026 recruiting currently ranks ninth-best nationally, as of Monday, June 30, according to the 247Sports Team Rankings.
