Coming to Tuscaloosa last offseason, there were few Alabama Crimson Tide transfer additions more impactful than wide receiver Germie Bernard.
Following head coach Kalen DeBoer from Washington, Bernard burst onto the scene in Tuscaloosa a year ago to the tune of a career-year, emerging into one of Alabama‘s top wide receivers almost instantly.
Now entering year two at Alabama as well, Bernard is once again expected to play a significant role for the Crimson Tide this fall, and could be among the more productive wide receivers in the entire SEC when all is said and done.

This will be the fourth season of college football for Bernard overall, the first two of which were spent at Michigan State and Washington, respectively. Over those three previous seasons, Bernard has a combined 91 receptions for 1,341 yards and six touchdowns, while also rushing for 83 yards and three more scores on 18 attempts, as well as returning 16 kickoffs for 352 yards and three punts for 43 yards.

The 2024 season was Bernard’s first at Alabama after transferring in from Washington, with the wide receiver going on to start in all 13 games. Bernard’s first season at Alabama ended with a career-high 50 receptions for 794 yards and two touchdowns, along with four rushes for 37 yards and another score.

Coming out of high school, Bernard was considered the nation’s No. 237 overall prospect in the 2022 class, as well as the No. 37 wide receiver nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Bernard, a four-star recruit, was also the No. 5 overall prospect in the state of Nevada where he attended Liberty High School.
Prior to Alabama, Bernard was considered as the No. 156 overall player in the transfer portal, as well as No. 30 wide receiver, during the 2024 offseason according to 247Sports. Rated a four-star prospect, Bernard committed to the Crimson Tide in Jan. 2024.
Germie Bernard 2025 season outlook
Bernard was one of Alabama’s top wide receivers during his debut season in Tuscaloosa, and even despite a loaded position room, that will remain the same in 2025.
Now a senior, Bernard is back in the Kalen DeBoer system this fall for the third consecutive year, one that also adds his former offensive coordinator at Washington this fall, Ryan Grubb. Because of this, Bernard is likely set for a big season yet again, and could very even surpass his receiving totals from a year ago that were career-high’s.
Don’t be surprised if Bernard receives some individual honors at seasons end also, as well as potentially flirting with a 1,000-yard season.
