According to On3, Texas A&M's 2025 basketball transfer portal class ranked shockingly low

New Texas A&M basketball head coach Bucky McMillan has done a fantastic job during his first full offseason, already landing seven players from the transfer portal, led by former five-star Indiana forward Mackenzie Mgbacko, leading to commitments from guard Josh Holloway (Samford), guard Duke Miles (Oklahoma), forwards Zach Clemence (Kansas), Jamie Vinson IV (Texas) and guard Marcus Hill (NC State).

Former North Alabama star guard Jacari Lane started things off as McMillan’s first commit, leading to all six players mentioned following suit which has nearly completed A&M’s 2025 roster which is ahead of schedule compared to where things stood after the former Samford coach accepted the job.

It’s important to note that after former head coach Buzz Williams transitioned to Maryland, he took star forwards Pharrell Payne and Solomon Washington with him, leaving sophomore forward Chris McDermott as the only player left on the roster. Two of Texas A&M’s 2025 signees also followed Williams to the Big Ten. Still, McMillan has made signifcant progress, and he is far from finished adding players from the transfer portal.

However, On3’s updated 2025 transfer portal class rankings doesn’t respect what McMillan has accomplished, as the Aggies are currently ranked 54th overall, below Arkansas (53rd), Marquette (52nd) and Alabama (51st), and above North Carolina, currently ranked 56th.

Rankings are rankings, and time will tell just how solid McMillan’s first portal class is, but based each players’ collegiate film, I stick by my earlier statement: Texas A&M will be a team to watch in 2025, and a potential bid stealer in the NCAA Tournament.
