Aaron Rodgers tears into Jets exit, new HC Aaron Glenn, amid Steelers speculation

Before fans of the Black and Gold can look ahead to what’s in store for a potential Pittsburgh Steelers–Aaron Rodgers union in 2025, it’s important to understand what exactly led the four-time MVP to the Steel City in the first place.

According to Rodgers, he expected his final meeting with the New York Jets to be an elaborate conversation — but what he got was anything but:

“We start talking, [Aaron Glenn] just runs out of the room. I’m like, ‘That’s kind of strange.’ Then he comes back with the GM,” Rodgers explained. “Then we sit down in the office — and I think we’re gonna have this long conversation, I’ve flown across the country. Twenty seconds in, he goes — like literally, I’m talking to the GM about something and [Glenn] leans to the edge of his seat and goes, ‘So, do you want to play football?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m interested.’ Then [Glenn] says, ‘We’re going in a different direction at quarterback.’ And I was kind of shocked.”

That wasn’t even the worst of it, as Rodgers detailed a heated back-and-forth that took place after Glenn accused the four-time MVP of potentially being a distraction in team meetings:

“I said, ‘What does that even mean? Are you assuming that I would be in the back of the room during a team meeting undermining what you’re saying?’ I said, ‘You don’t know me.’ And he said, ‘You don’t know me.’ And then I said, ‘Exactly — which is why I flew across the country to have a face-to-face meeting with you, to talk about my experience with the Jets and to hear your vision for the team.’ Twenty seconds in.”

Rodgers finished with a powerful message to anyone thinking he was still holding out hope for a return to the Jets after that meeting went south:

“I don’t want any part of that. It was already a debacle.”
