The New York Jets can now officially circle one game on their 2025 NFL schedule.
It was assumed by most across the league that former Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, 41, was going to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Now it has happened.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Steelers will be signing the QB. Full terms of the deal have yet to be announced:

Rodgers spent the past two seasons in New York but only really played in 2024. The year prior, Rodgers sustained a season-ending injury in his debut game with the Jets.
Rodgers led the Jets to a 5-12 record last season after appearing in all 17 games for the team. Reportedly Rodgers played through injury in 2024 and his departure, like part of his tenure in New York, included some controversy.
Rodgers went on the record to say his meeting with new Jets head coach Aaron Rodgers was “strange” and did not sound appreciative of how the exit meeting went down.
Regardless, the Jets and Steelers were placed against each other in Week 1 of next season’s schedule. The NFL likely assumed there would be a “revenge” game in the making if Rodgers were to sign in Pittsburgh and that has happened.
