Jets QB Jordan Travis Announces Retirement
New York Jets quarterback Jordan Travis, a fifth-round pick (No. 171 overall) in the 2024 NFL Draft from Florida State, has informed the team of his intention to retire, per Adam Scheftler on X. The 24-year-old’s decision comes after a challenging rookie season sidelined by a severe leg injury sustained in college.
“On November 18, 2023, my life took an unexpected turn. I gave everything I had to the rehab process but despite all my efforts, my leg never responded the way we hoped. After much prayer and consultation with the doctors, medical experts and my agent, I’ve been medically advised to retire from the game I love so deeply.”

“It’s unfortunate that he was unable to get back on the field after working so hard,” Jets GM Darren Mougey spoke of Travis, “We support his decision and wish him only the best.”
Travis, an exciting dual-threat quarterback, dazzled at Florida State, was leading the Seminoles to an undefeated 2023 regular season and earning ACC Player and Offensive Player of the Year honors when a gruesome ankle fracture against North Alabama ended his college career, dropping his draft stock. He threw for 8,644yards and 65 touchdowns while adding 1,950 rushing yards while at Florida State. With the Jets, Travis spent 2024 on the non-football injury list, facing rehab setbacks that delayed his return.
Despite high hopes as a developmental prospect behind Aaron Rodgers and Tyrod Taylor, Travis’ recovery struggles fell short. Travis, known for his leadership, his love of the game and winning has shown that he has the strength to bounce back and we will be here cheering for him.
