Inter Milan are interested in a deal to sign Manchester United centre-back Matthijs de Ligt, with the Serie A side set to propose an initial loan deal.
De Ligt signed for Manchester United from Bayern Munich in €45m last summer, where he reunited with former Ajax manager Erik ten Hag.
The 25-year-old has had a mixed first season in the Premier League, while Ten Hag was dismissed in October after a poor start to the campaign.

De Ligt’s status under Ruben Amorim remains unclear and Inter are monitoring his situation. The Italian champions are reportedly interested in bringing the former Juventus defender back to Serie A. Tuttomercatoweb claim Inter are preparing a proposal, that would include an initial loan offer with option to buy.
Given Amorim’s preference for three central defenders and Lisandro Martinez’s current absence with an ACL injury, it looks unlikely that a loan offer would persuade the Red Devils to the table. A potential transfer could hinge on De Ligt’s role next season, with the Dutch defender keen to reclaim his place in the Netherlands side.
During his previous spell in Italy, De Ligt made 117 appearances across three seasons at Juventus and won a Serie A title and Coppa Italia. A move to Bayern Munich followed, where he lifted the Bundesliga with the German side in 2022/23, before falling out of favour. He joined Manchester United last summer alongside Bayern teammate Noussair Mazraoui.
