Spartans left off top schools list for key OL target in 2026 class

Michigan State football has apparently missed out on another one of its top targets in the 2026 class.

Kelvin Obot of Fruitland, Idaho released his top five schools list on Tuesday, and Michigan State was unfortunately left out of the mix. Obot included the following schools as his finalists: Oregon, Utah, Nebraska, USC and Michigan.

Obot took an official visit to Michigan State earlier this month, indicating that Michigan State was in the mix for his commitment. However, that was a short-lived dream with Obot already cutting the Spartans from the running.

Obot is a four-star offensive tackle in the 2026 class. He ranks as the No. 12 tackle in the class and No. 140 overall player. He is also listed as the No. 1 player from Idaho in the class, according to 247Sports.

Earlier this month, fellow four-star offensive lineman target for the Spartans Gregory Patrick committed to Notre Dame. Patrick was a Spartans legacy and was heavily considering Michigan State before picking the Fighting Irish. So in just a few weeks, Michigan State has missed out on its top two offensive lineman prospects in the 2026 class. That’s not good to see at all for the Spartans.
