There are few better events in sports than Game 7s. Luckily for WHL fans, they get to experience two, or even maybe three, Game 7s in this year’s second round of the playoffs. These final games are always difficult to watch, as a single mistake could end a team’s season.

As mentioned, two series are already bound for Game 7. The Lethbridge Hurricanes will take on the Calgary Hitmen on Wednesday, while the Portland Winterhawks will battle the Everett Silvertips on Tuesday. As for the Victoria Royals and Spokane Chiefs, they would need a Game 7 if Victoria can defeat Spokane in Game 6 on Tuesday.

Historically, Game 7s are not common in the second round of the WHL Playoffs. In fact, since 2019, there have only been two total Game 7s in the second round. As for the last time there were multiple Game 7s in the second round, that would be 2017, when Lethbridge defeated the Medicine Hat Tigers, while the Regina Pats took down the Swift Current Broncos.

Ultimately, the second round of the 2025 WHL Playoffs has been one of the best from the last few seasons. Eight games have gone to overtime, while most outcomes have been decided by two or fewer goals. If these Game 7s look anything like the rest of the matches from these series, WHL fans are in for a treat this week.
