Illinois’ Hank Beatty earns Big Ten honor after Week 1 win

Illinois senior Hank Beatty had a huge game on special teams in Illinois’ 52-3 win over Western Illinois.

And the Big Ten took notice.

Beatty was named Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday.

He broke the Illini’s 102-year-old single-game punt return yardage record with 133 yards on four punt returns. He also had the program’s first punt return touchdown since 2013.

Beatty also had five receptions for 108 yards and led the nation in all-purpose yards in Week 1.

Heisman campaign, anyone? (I’m kidding. I think.)
