A connection was made between the New York Jets and wide receiver Jakobi Meyers.
Last week, Meyers requested a trade from his team, the Las Vegas Raiders.
According to our friends at Raiders Wire, the 28-year-old is unhappy he did not receive a contract extension this offseason.
Meyers is coming off a career year having caught 87 passes for 1027 yards and four touchdowns while carrying the distinction of not having a single on-target drop all season long.
And the Jets are in need of help at receiver across from No. 1 Garrett Wilson, so the connection makes sense and that was made by ESPN.
ESPN called Meyers a “name to watch” for the Jets regarding Meyers potentially being traded.
ESPN’s full analysis can be found below:
A name to watch: One receiver who might be available is Jakobi Meyers, who reportedly wants the Las Vegas Raiders to trade him. Jets passing game coordinator Scott Turner, a Raiders assistant the previous two seasons, spoke glowingly of Meyers last December: “I tell people all the time, he’s one of my favorite players that I’ve ever coached.”
Meyers, 28, is coming off his best season — 87 catches, 1,027 yards. He’s in the final year of his contract ($10.5 million base) and wants a raise.
