New York Giants sign TE Qadir Ismail to practice squad after working out 17 players

The New York Giants wrapped up training camp on Thursday with their final practice, but that wasn’t the only thing going on at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center.

Giants coaches and scouts also oversaw a significant workout consisting of 17 players before they ultimately signed tight end Qadir Ismail.

Ismail joins defensive backs Swayze Bozeman and Patrick McMorris as players who were added to the team’s practice squad on Thursday.

The 6-foot-7, 232-pound Ismail spent the summer with the Las Vegas Raiders after signing with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Samford last year.

Ismail, the son of Qadry Ismail and nephew of Rocket Ismail, began his college career as a quarterback before switching to wide receiver. Then, with the Ravens, he made another switch, moving to tight end.

In three preseason games, Ismail caught two passes for 20 yards. He will serve as the replacement for Greg Dulcich, who signed with the Miami Dolphins‘ practice squad earlier this week.

The remaining 16 players who worked out for the Giants are as follows:

  • Isaiah Bolden, DB
  • McClendon Curtis, G
  • Darrian Dalcourt, G
  • Zach Davidson, TE
  • Taylor Elgersma, QB
  • Luke Grimm, WR
  • Maxen Hook, DB
  • Kingsley Jonathan
  • Jakobie Keeney-James, WR
  • Zack Kuntz, TE
  • Caden Rieskorn, TE
  • Deantre Prince, DB
  • Ethan Robinson, DB
  • Caden Sterns, DB
  • Dorian Thompson-Robinson, QB
  • Marcus Yarns, RB

The Giants also held a visit with offensive tackle Zachary Thomas, who was not part of the workouts.
