Tennessee Titans waive former starting tackle Nicholas Petit-Frere

In a move that should please the fan base, the Tennessee Titans have waived tackle Nicholas Petit-Frere after three disappointing seasons.

Initially drafted in the third round (Pick 69) of the 2022 NFL draft, the former All-American tackle at Ohio State failed to entrench himself in the lineup and was a huge disappointment during his three years with the Titans. During his time in Nashville, he appeared in 34 games and started 28 of them.

Petit-Frere appeared to regress after a solid rookie season. Whether it was a suspension for violating the league’s gambling policy or injuries, he became a liability by 2024, giving up 10 sacks, splitting time as a starter and as a reserve.

After the Titans signed Dan Moore and indicated that JC Latham was headed to right tackle, many speculated that Petit-Frere could be on the move. Now the move is complete and will free up some valuable cap space as they continue to revitalize their roster. Petit-Frere was entering the final year of his rookie contract, and the move will save the Titans $3.65 million in cap space in 2025.

This also opens up another avenue the team could pursue when the draft kicks off in a week.
