Inter Milan will stick with an unchanged defense this season, although Cristian Chivu could give a new role to Yann Bisseck.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. They report that Bisseck could play more in the centre of the Nerazzurri’s back three.
Inter Milan have not signed a defender this summer.
The Nerazzurri have spent the entire transfer window searching for one. They have missed out on top targets like Koni De Winter and Giovanni Leoni.
And in the meantime, Inter have been looking for the right opportunity to sign a young defender who is both financially attainable and possessing the qualities to bolster their squad for the future.
So far, however, no such opportunities have emerged.
Inter considered Rennes defender Jeremy Jacquet as a target. However, they balked at the €50 million asking price for the 20-year-old.
Meanwhile, Inter have also thought about moves for Fenerbahce’s Yusuf Akcicek and Borussia Monchengladbach’s Fabio Chiarodia.
However, in the end the Nerazzurri have decided to keep their powder dry. They will not sign a defender until at least the January transfer window, or next summer.

It comes as something of a surprise that Inter haven’t signed a defender this summer.
The expectation going into the transfer window was certainly that the Nerazzurri would aim to sign a defender.
The reason for this is that Inter are having to consider the future beyond aging veterans Stefan de Vrij and Francesco Acerbi.
De Vrij and Acerbi have been stalwarts for Inter. However, the duo will turn 34 and 38 respectively this season.
According to Tuttosport, Inter are hoping that each of de Vrij and Acerbi each have one more good season left in them. Or at least, that their fitness holds out until January.
And in the meantime, the newspaper report, Inter could have an internal solution in case Acerbi or de Vrij are not as reliable as in the past.
Last season, Simone Inzaghi used German international defender Yann Bisseck at the centre of Inter’s back three from time to time.
And according to Tuttosport, Inzaghi’s replacement Chivu could further pursue that solution. If it is to prove fruitful, then, Bisseck could even be a long-term heir to de Vrij and Acerbi.
