Cincinnati Reds outfielder Jake Fraley hit a grand slam in the bottom of the 8th inning of Thursday’s series finale against the Seattle Mariners.
The Reds trailed 5-3 when Fraley’s grand slam gave them a 7-5 lead. Seattle hit a pair of solo home runs in the top of the 9th inning to tie the game at 7.
Fraley’s first home run of the season came against his former team, off Mariners reliever Eduard Bazardo.
In March 2022, Fraley was traded by the Mariners with a player to be named later, Justin Dunn and Brandon Williamson to the Reds for Eugenio Suárez and Jesse Winker. Seattle sent Connor Phillips to Cincinnati to complete the trade.
“Great to see Jake Fraley come up huge against his former team,” Fanduel Sports Network analyst and National Baseball Hall of Famer Barry Larkin said during the broadcast. “That has to feel fantastic. Jake Fraley just getting a fastball out over the plate. … Stayed through it.”
